5 Tips for Optimizing Your Holiday Recruitment

5_Tips_for_Optimizing_Your_Holiday_Recruitment‘Tis the season – one of the busiest times of the year and a golden opportunity for recruiters. We recently hosted a webinar on How to be Efficient with your Holiday Recruitment (you can watch a recording if you missed it), and we want to share some key takeaways from our Client Success team on how to turn the holiday season into one of your most productive times of the year.

#1 - Analyze results from 2022. How did this year go? Did you hit your hiring goal? If not, what did you miss? Did you meet your metrics goals? If not, how are you going to fix it? Here are a few things to consider during this process:
        • Take a look at who you hired this year. Do you know why they joined your organization?
        • Look at who left the organization. Can you identify the potential reasons why they left?
        • Assess your biggest wins. What went well, and where do you have areas for improvement?
#2 - Set your goals for 2023. Are your goals focused on accelerating recruitment, increasing retention, improving your time or cost per hire, or focusing more on recruitment marketing? Whatever your goals are, make sure they’re SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Some example goals might be:
        • From January to June, identify 30+ psychiatry leads through Doximity Talent Finder (or the platform you’re using)
        • Hire one physician in a nine-month span from Talent Finder (or the platform you’re using)
        • For the year, focus on the three core pillars of relevance, specificity, and brevity for every job post, email, or DocMail. Physicians are busy, and every message should be optimized to meet their needs.

#3 - Identify top priorities for the new year. What positions are most crucial for you to fill? That could come from identifying who is retiring and where you need to backfill. It’s also helpful to identify which specialties and practices are growing the most and if new facilities or offices are opening. It’s easier to align your goals if you can determine whom you need to hire first.

#4 - Create a plan for the year ahead.
Achieving SMART goals requires making plans to get there. The holidays are a good time to create new messaging based on what you’ve learned. What messages engaged more candidates than others? Why did physicians choose your organization? You can use all of this information to refine your approach and ensure your messages are well received by busy physicians. Our team offered a formula for helping with messaging in our holiday recruitment webinar.

If you’re using Doximity Talent Finder, we suggest auditing your jobs. If details or parameters of your job descriptions have changed, take the opportunity to update them now. We recommend developing new job post templates based on what worked best in 2022. Lastly, now is an excellent time to build candidate lists that narrow your audience by activity, specialty, medical schools, residency programs, fellowships, etc. Review your results and start 2023 with a list of physicians and candidates to contact in the new year.

#5 - Take time for professional development. Use the holiday season to boost your recruitment knowledge and skills. Here are a few resources and ideas:
