There’s been no shortage of articles on generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) recently, and you’re probably wondering how this technology can be applied to physician recruitment. Let’s start with a few facts worth knowing, followed by some tips for using AI to save time while recruiting.
Generative AI (a subset of traditional AI) allows users to enter written prompts and receive human-like text, images and videos generated by AI. According to a Mercer Report on global talent trends, 88% of companies globally already use some form of AI for human resources, and more than 40% of U.S. employers currently use chatbots to engage with candidates during recruitment.
Here are some ways recruiters can use GAI:
- Drafting job descriptions: AI can assist you in crafting clear, comprehensive, and engaging descriptions. It’s important to note that you should use Generative AI as a tool to jumpstart your work and make you more efficient. It’s not a replacement for your own critical thinking and writing skills. You bear ultimate responsibility for your content.
- Enhancing your employer brand. Using GAI can be a game-changer if you’ve been looking at a job posting or organizational messaging for a while. By giving you a fresh set of eyes (metaphorically), GAI tools can spot problems a human might miss (or just give you a new perspective) and help you maintain consistency across all your job posts.
- Drafting candidate outreach. You can prompt the GAI tool as if you’re asking someone else to complete the task. For example, you can write: “I'll provide a job description to craft an engaging email to entice potential clinician candidates. Please introduce the job opportunity, articulate the advantages of the job with a persuasive tone, use industry-specific terminology, and keep it short – write for clarity.” You can get a well-written message in seconds to help you get started drafting outreach.
- Testing different subject lines. To help improve click-through rates, you can even test out a variety of email subject lines. Simply type, “Create a list of subject lines that will attract and engage candidates and help the email stand out.” You’ll get a list almost immediately, but remember to use your expertise to determine what will work and what won’t.
Will GAI replace recruiters? The short answer is no. It should be considered as an assistant or advisor to recruiters — it does not replace the need for human interaction during the recruitment process.
Helping physicians be more productive so they can provide better care for their patients is a top priority at Doximity.
