The Apple Watch hits retail shelves and ecommerce sites the same day.

The Apple Watch is a wearable device that functions much like a mobile phone. The new Doximity app brings your physician candidates secure HIPAA-compliant messaging, as well as an e-fax number, and a journal feed right to their wrist.

Physicians have been anticipating the new watch for a while now (an earlier launch was lackluster, but Apple has made some key adjustments). Why the anticipation? Obviously, physicians are mobile. They bring their own devices to work and they love Apple products. Their adoption rate for the iPhone 6 was nearly double that of the general consumer audience when it launched. Today more than 85% of Doximity physician members use iPhone over Android and more than 70 percent of Doximity's physician traffic comes from mobile devices.

As you know HIPAA laws forbid physicians from using email or text messaging to discuss patient issues, but the time it takes to send a fax or play phone tag can be critical for a patient. Most physicians want pagers to become a thing of the past, too. Physician members have overcome these issues with Doximity; they use it to message securely — and on the go — from their phones and tablets. Now Doximity's encrypted, authenticated app for Apple Watch can be used right on their wrist to read messages at a glance; quickly reply to messages by dictating responses; and get incoming fax alerts.

"I can't imagine a more important reason to get information instantly, than when it relates to your patient's health," said Dr. Nate Gross, Doximity Co-Founder. "Apple Watch's impact on patient care could be tremendous, and it can save physicians precious time in a critical setting."

We invite you and your physician candidates can learn more on the Doximity website. Verified physicians and medical students can also enter a drawing to win an Apple Watch!
